HUGE Blessings!

So the yard sale on Saturday was not as profitable as I had hoped. But I think that God already had a way arranged for me to get the resources I need for my summer programs and to help with the container. The next day at church my Pastor had arranged for me to present my trip to the church body. My good friend made prayer cards for me to hand out at church. After I presented, the Pastor handed me a check for $500, another $200 in creole bibles and then as I was handing out prayer cards and filling people in on the details of my trip after service, many people handed me money to help with the purchases - a total of $400. And that's not all! The church included a list of supplies in the bulletin that I had submitted. Today - barely Tuesday, I have almost all the supplies I need for the summer programs! God is faithful in every way. He has so richly blessed me with an abundance of resources to take to the Haitian Village School. I cannot wait to see the faces of these precious children when they come to class and experience for the first time what many here in the US experience every day. I am so excited to tell them about my God that provided all of it for them through His faithful people.

and another thing...

So amidst the planning and packing, I am also helping to get a 40' shipping container loaded and on its way to Haiti. This container will hold 300 school desks and chairs (donated by Moorpark Unified School District) for the new village school being built near the orphanage, 500 school supply bags for the students of the village school, medical supplies, and other misc. supplies needed at the orphanage. An amazing group of people have given their time and resources to get this project 'floating'. We are scheduled to load it on Saturday, June 28 at the district wharehouse. I am having a yard sale this Saturday to try to raise some more money to help pay for the container. It is truly amazing what God can do when His people are obedient to His call. I am going to take lots of pictures and I will post them here but if you would like to see for yourself first hand and also be a part of this incredible effort let me know by posting a comment and I'll get you the details. I can't wait to show the village kids the pictures of all that is being done here to help THEM because THEY MATTER to us.

Planning and Packing

Well, I am done with my school year and am very relieved. Now I can focus all my energy on my projects. I am just a few weeks away and I need to do the daily lesson plans for the camp and training. Also, I am starting to pack my bags...well, the ones that will hold all the supplies I will be taking:-) Great news for us - our adoption files have started to move. We were notified that the files were approved and exited IBESR. This is the first of many hurdles before the boys come home. I am so excited to see them again!!

Welcome!

Thank you for reading. My husband Mario and I are in the process of adopting our sons from Haiti. Our adoption agency, International Child Foundation, linked us to Chances4children which is the U.S. agency that provides the financial and strategic support for Fondacion Enfant Jesus. FEJ is the organization in Haiti that runs the Creche (orphanage), the village school (Ecole deL'Enfant Jesus) as well as many other community programs. I wanted to help this country in the areas that I feel are crucial to their survival and advancement - Education. This is something that many of us Americans take for granted daily, but is such a luxury yet a necessity to the Haitian people. I will be running a summer enrichment camp for 100 of the village school children. Every morning the students will come to the village school to rotate through four classes daily: cooking, gardening, jewelry and crafts and bible stories. In the afternoons, I will be holding a teacher training for the village school teachers to provide them additional methods to enhance their teaching and the student learning. I will be staying at the Creche and will be able to see my boys every day! The Creche preschool teacher will also be taking the older kids to participate in the summer camp! The preschool teacher and I will also be holding an adult Bible study. I am so very excited for all of these opportunities that God has provided me. I hope you will follow my journey by reading the blog daily, communicating with me while I'm there and praying for me. I will try to post nightly and update photos and video clips as often as possible.
